7 monologues to enjoy in the theaters of your city

Monologues

Introduce oneself only before the public, sometimes without more props than a chair or a microphone, is an art reserved for the brave. There are many comedians who fill small theaters and halls, with the intention of starting the laughter of the public with their own texts.

But not only they get on the tables; actors and playwrights work every week to move us with original or adapted texts. During the next few months, many are the monologues that will rotate throughout our geography:

Aiguantulivinamerica 2

15 years after premiering his first monologue about Americans, the stand-up writer Goyo Jiménez returns to the charge by popular acclaim with Aiguantulivinamerica 2. Comparisons between the fabulous American way of life and the, let's put it this way, less glamorous go back to pulling the Spanish. Mike, Joe, Susan, little Timmy and a lot of new characters are back, immersed in absurd situations that sound familiar and fascinate us all. Surrealism, nonsense, complicity and ingenuity return mixed in equal parts. But, above all, the unique and inimitable expert on American affairs, Goyo Jiménez, returns. To his favorite place, to the home of the brave, to the land of the free.

Autobiography of a Yogi

Rafael Álvarez 'The Witch' turns the best seller of the Hindu Paramahansa Yogananda into a monologue. El Brujo, a master of storytelling, takes the witness to make us partakers of a whole philosophy of life that surprises ordinary mortals by the discoveries that underlie it.

Five hours with Mario

Lola Herrera He says goodbye to the stage playing the character that has earned him so much success in his theatrical career and that has marked him so much professionally: that of the widow Carmen Sotillo. Among the abundant production of the great Valladolid writer Miguel Delibes, Five Hours with Mario has become over the years a theatrical classic and the work with which Lola Herrera herself became known in 1979. It is a testimony of the isolation of two people, a portrait of the condition of women in Spain and a very faithful mirror of Spanish provincial life in those times.

Iphigenia in Vallecas

He does not study, he does not work. You can see her drunk around the neighborhood, lying on a bench in the square or shouting after hours. Iphigenia in Vallecas, from Gary Owen's Iphigenia in Splott, jumps to the tables adapted and starring María Hervás and directed by Antonio C. Guijosa.

A lot of nonsense

Much nonsense is the new monologue by Berto Romero. His title is both a statement of intent and a precise description of his work on the stage for the last 20 years. New stories, new songs and the odd surprise on this date with Berto at the theater. Nothing but a comedian, a guitarist and all the necessary nonsense to keep laughing.
