On September 19th, Elche will pay a heartfelt tribute to couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with the traditional Golden Wedding Anniversary Gala. The event, organized by the Department of Children, Family, and Seniors, will be held this year at the Hort del Xocolater, a larger venue that will allow for double the number of attendees compared to previous years.
The councilor for the area, Aurora Rodil, explained that the goal is for no couple from Elche to miss out on the celebration . "Fifty years of marriage is an extraordinary milestone that deserves to be recognized and celebrated," she noted, highlighting that the change of location is due to the high demand registered in previous years, when many couples were left on a waiting list.
A celebration with more capacity
The Hort del Xocolater, one of the city's historic orchards, will host 70 couples, compared to the 30 that could participate at the Congress Center . The choice of this new location aims to ensure that interested couples don't miss out and to offer a more spacious and welcoming environment for the evening.
During the gala, an orchestra will provide live music, and attendees will be able to share the joy with their children and grandchildren , who will accompany the couples in this recognition. Rodil assured that "very beautiful stories will be told and there will be much joy."
Registration requirements and deadlines
Couples interested in participating must be registered residents of Elche and have been married for 50 years. Registration will be open from August 10th to 30th , inclusive.
