Silversea has launched its first collection of culinary voyages, SALT, a concept that combines luxury cruises with immersive gastronomic experiences in European destinations. The collection, called SALT Culinary Voyages , offers passengers the opportunity to discover each port through its flavors, traditions, and the people who make it unique.
The itineraries, designed for the European grape harvest season, will travel through Portugal, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom aboard the Silver Dawn and Silver Spirit. Each voyage is structured around four concepts: Gather, Create, Celebrate, and Enjoy, connecting travelers with local ingredients and culinary experiences to savor the region's rich culture.
Itineraries and experiences on board
The collection launches with seven cruises taking place between August and October 2026. Onboard, guests will enjoy an expanded culinary program that includes the nine-course 'Iberia's Autumn Bounty' dinner at La Dame restaurant, tastings of Bordeaux wines and premium champagne, and a cocktail masterclass at the SALT Bar. Live demonstrations will also be offered, such as 'Atlantic Coastal Catch,' focusing on Atlantic seafood, and a six-course wild-caught lunch called 'Autumn Forest Treasures.'
The harvest theme permeates the entire journey, from the welcome cocktail with caviar to a grand autumn brunch and a special harvest-inspired aperitif. Wine and French cheese tastings , led by the head sommelier, complete the onboard offerings.
Exclusive shore excursions
The SALT land-based experiences are at the heart of the collection. Highlights include a bespoke Port winemaking experience at a historic estate in the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a barbecue lunch. In Bordeaux, passengers can visit Château du Prince Noir and cook with Michelin-starred chef Vivien Durand, followed by a wine-paired lunch.
Other options include a black truffle hunt at the historic Château Royal de Cazeneuve, a cooking class with chef Brigitte Dumant at her home in Normandy, and a day of wild foraging with chef José Velhinho in Sintra. In the Basque Country, there's a txakoli tasting and a meal at trendy restaurants to enjoy during your travels , such as the Michelin-starred Garena.
Company statements
Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea, stated: “With this new collection of SALT culinary voyages, we are reinforcing our position as a leader among smaller cruise lines in culinary experiences. We offer our guests direct access to the people and places that define the food culture of each region.” Hernandez emphasized that experiences such as cooking with a countess in northern Portugal or learning family recipes in Normandy are impossible to arrange independently.
With this collection, Silversea reinforces its commitment to culinary tourism, offering travelers privileged access to the culinary culture of each region. The cruises, which will take place between August and October 2026, promise a unique experience that combines luxury, learning, and flavor.
