The Intercontinental University of Business (UIE) has received approval to expand its academic offerings with a new Master's degree in General Health Psychology, a qualification that enables graduates to practice professionally in the healthcare sector . The approval, granted by the Galician Council of Universities, comes at a key moment for the institution, which has just graduated its first class of students.
In addition to the Master's in Psychology, UIE will begin offering a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's in Cybersecurity next academic year, both of which have been very well received . The Master's Degree in General Health Psychology is one of the most anticipated new offerings. This qualifying degree allows Psychology graduates to practice as health psychologists , a professional profile in high demand within the healthcare system. UIE is adding it to its postgraduate offerings alongside the Master's Degree in Cybersecurity, which is accredited by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).
High demand for the Nursing Degree
The Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, offered in collaboration with HM Hospitals, has generated significant interest. With nearly 180 applications for 80 places, the waiting list exceeds one hundred applicants , reflecting the need for healthcare training in the community. The curriculum combines theoretical instruction with clinical practice at HM hospitals in A Coruña and Santiago.
New facilities and teaching staff
To accommodate this growth, the UIE will open a new annex building of almost 1.500 square meters in A Coruña. The new facilities include technology laboratories and advanced classrooms that will support the health and technology degree programs. In addition, the Faculty of Health Science, Technology and Management has a new dean, Dr. Marcela Castillo Rama, who has a distinguished international career.
