One of the regulars at the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk is designer Custo Dalmau, who presented his brand's new collection, titled ' Slow Food '. Now that gastronomy is so fashionable, and chefs are true media stars, the Catalan designer wanted to pay homage to the culinary world in his proposal for the spring-summer 2016 season.
The front row of the show included a very special guest: designer Iris Apfen , godmother of this year's 080 Barcelona Fashion Week. Apfen didn't miss a single detail of Custo's new collection, which explores the fusion of gastronomy and fashion. 'Slow Food' refers to the culinary movement that champions healthy cuisine using locally sourced products. In Custo's work, this is reflected in fabrics such as silk, lace, and knitwear, dyed in vibrant colors and featuring bold prints.

Custo draws inspiration from puzzles to create original dresses with organic cuts, or from car washes, with dresses featuring straps similar to those used in car washes. Pictorial and geometric prints remain undisputed protagonists of Custo Barcelona's style, as do seemingly impossible color combinations. This time, the designer has taken inspiration from the colors of nature, alternating mauve, white, fuchsia, violet, lime, blue, and tangerine with black details that add a touch of boldness to the designs.
TCN, spring-summer 2016
TCN is another brand that's a regular at 080 Barcelona Fashion. At this 16th edition, the lingerie and swimwear brand presented its new Spring/Summer 2016 collection, which was very well received by the event's audience. Once again, we see another brand taking its inspiration from 70s fashion, a style that will be more fashionable than ever next season. Think trikinis, culottes, tie-dye prints, and espadrilles as the star footwear.
In addition to the 70s style, TCN has also embraced another of the strongest trends in fashion lately: ' sport chic' . This sporty style is showcased on the runway in garments such as ruffled bikinis, mesh dresses, and caps as accessories. As for the color palette, the collection ranges from sweet pastel shades to mustard, including some designs in spectacular metallic tones.
Wom & Now, spring-summer 2016
One of the brands making its debut on the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk is the Catalan label Wom&Now. Their new Spring/Summer 2016 collection is inspired by the Mediterranean, specifically the French Riviera , and features one of the great divas of French cinema, Jane Birkin , as its muse . The actress and singer, a true style icon, is the source of inspiration for relaxed, seventies-inspired looks, with a unisex touch but a distinctly feminine result.
Once again, 70s fashion made its mark on the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week runway, becoming a major trend for next spring/summer. In Wom&Now's collection, we see it reflected in flared trousers, midi skirts, flowing dresses, jumpsuits, palazzo pants, and shirt dresses. Pastel shades and natural colors, such as ochre and beige, are the stars of the collection. We also find prints, like maxi polka dots, floral prints, and stripes.
Celia Vela, spring-summer 2016
The award for Best Collection at this year's 080 Barcelona Fashion Week went to Celia Vela. The Catalan designer, a regular at the event, triumphed with a mixed collection infused with Mediterranean flair. Grateful for the recognition of her work, which she considers "an appreciation of all these years of effort," Vela expressed her happiness at being able to present her designs here in her hometown year after year.
Her inspiration for this Spring/Summer 2016 collection comes from the world of botany and tells a love story. He, a botanist and garden designer, passionate about flowers, likes to dress in white and wear espadrilles. She strolls along the beach, with flowers in her hair, to see if he's still in love by looking into her eyes instead of at the blooms. This is reflected in a romantic collection dominated by the color white, feminine dresses, lace details, and, above all, flowers.
Carlotaoms, spring-summer 2016
Carlotaoms was one of the big winners at the 16th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion. The label, founded by the design duo Elisabet Carlota and Elisenda Oms, received the Emerging Designer Award for their Spring/Summer 2016 collection, titled ' Allegory '. The young designers, trained at the Felicidad Dulce design school, were delighted with this recognition, which will undoubtedly open many doors for them from now on.
“Carlotaoms has won this award for the consistency of its collection presentation, its potential, the work they have done with fabrics, and their very clear vision for their brand,” explained the award jury. The designers themselves define the Carlotaoms brand as urban, conceptual, and comfortable fashion that is versatile and suitable for both work and a night out. Their collection, 'Allegory,' plays with the black and white combination, contrasted with touches of vibrant lemon yellow. Unisex and functional garments predominate, featuring clean lines and made from materials such as cotton and poplin.
