COS «Contrast», new autumn-winter 2017 campaign

COS, autumn-winter 2017/18 campaign

“I feel the need to achieve maximum intensity with minimum means. This is what has led me to give my painting a more naked character.” Joan Miró’s words inspire “Contrast,” COS’s new autumn-winter 2017/18 campaign.

The artist's foundation in Barcelona serves as the backdrop for the brand's understated yet bold women's collection. Architecture once again plays a significant role in this collection, inspiring original patterns presented in two colors: black and burgundy.

Cos's campaigns always reveal urban landscapes that, in a way, inspire the "architecture" of their designs . The brand finds, once again this season, that geometric shapes and asymmetries are the best ally for creating garments that are understated yet anything but boring.

Black and burgundy

Black and burgundy dominate "Contrast." The new campaign seems to advocate for "contrast," however, when it comes to color, it would be more accurate to refer to the lack thereof. COS proposes monochromatic looks in black or burgundy.

COS trends

Looking at the pieces in Cos's new campaign, we notice a trend towards straight cuts. Wool coats feature oversized patterns and large lapels . These same lapels can be seen on the elegant blazers with concealed buttons that the brand offers to complete work looks with matching trousers. These same trousers can also be worn separately, paired with jeans for a more casual style.

It's surprising to find so many sleeveless pieces in this new campaign: long wool vests, pleated midi dresses , and tops with a satin finish and draped details, among others. As for trousers, alongside the brand's classic straight-leg and pleated styles, we find others with voluminous legs.
