Movistar has a host of new releases this May 2022, but today at Bezzia we're sharing only the most anticipated ones with you. Two series, a documentary, and four films. A diverse selection for all tastes, among which we're sure you'll find something to enjoy on the sofa this afternoon or evening.
Turnip
Movistar Plus+ has released the trailer and announced the premiere date for 'Rapa', its upcoming thriller from the creators of 'Hierro'. The six-episode series , starring Javier Cámara and Mónica López, will premiere on May 19th.
Created by Pepe Coira and Fran Araújo, and directed by Jorge Coira and Elena Trapé, the series takes us to Cedeira (Galicia), where Amparo Seoane, the town's mayor and the most powerful woman in the area, has been murdered. Investigating the crime becomes an obsession for Maite, a Civil Guard sergeant, and for Tomás, the only witness to the murder.
Harry Palmer: The Icpress File
Created by John Hodge and starring Joe Cole, Lucy Boynton, Tom Hollander and Ashley Thomas, Harry Palmer: The Icpress Files is a serialized adaptation of the novels by Len Deighton, which follow the adventures of a former smuggler turned spy.
This spy thriller, set in the 1960s during the height of the Cold War, arrives on the platform tomorrow, May 2nd. It won't be long now, therefore, before we can follow the adventures of this character who receives a dangerous covert mission to find a British nuclear scientist.
'Navalni: The Man Putin Couldn't Kill'
Directed by Jon Blair, this documentary is one of Movistar's most anticipated premieres this May. The highly topical documentary delves into an incredible story of international espionage centered on the figure of Alekséi Navalni, the visible face of the Russian opposition who was poisoned during a flight to Moscow.
Pleasure
This film, directed by Ninja Thyberg and starring Sofia Kappel, Kasia Szarek, Casey Calvert, and Evelyn Claire, premiered in 2021 and will arrive on the platform on May 17. The Swedish filmmaker personally immersed herself in the world of pornography to research and tell the story of Linnéa. This 19-year-old leaves her small town in Sweden to become Jessica, the next big porn star in Los Angeles, but the path to her goal proves to be more treacherous than she imagined.
Years of drought
A police officer returns to his hometown to confront the demons of his past when his childhood friend dies in a gruesome murder-suicide. That's the premise of the film directed by Robert Connolly and starring Eric Bana, Sam Corlett, Genevieve O'Reilly, Keir O'Donnell, and James Frecheville, which premiered in 2021.
petite mama
French director Céline Sciamma's Petite mamam immerses us in a fantastical setting where it's almost irresistible to be swept away by its young protagonist. Nelly has just lost her grandmother and is helping her parents clean her mother's childhood home. She explores the house and the surrounding woods . One day, she meets a girl her own age who is building a tree house. Definitely one of Movistar's biggest premieres this month!
The good boss
The Good Boss arrived at the 36th Goya Awards ceremony as the overwhelming favorite with 20 nominations and took home six awards, including Best Film. Now, Fernando León de Aranoa's film arrives on Movistar on May 27th for everyone to enjoy.
While awaiting a visit from a commission that might reward his company for excellence, the owner of an industrial scale manufacturing company tries to quickly resolve any problems his employees may have. That's the premise of "The Good Boss," starring Javier Bardem, Manolo Solo, and Almudena Amor.
